Chambers Covered Bridge

The Chambers Covered Bridge is the last covered railroad bridge in Oregon. It is however, no longer in service.

Cascades Raptors Center

Come visit 60 raptors from 33 species. The Center is on a beautiful, rustic 3 acre site at the eastern base of Spencer Butte. The Center is also adjacent to the Ridgeline Trail, which offers both hiking and mountain biking. The Cascades Raptors Nature center and wildlife hospital for birds of prey. Open to the general public Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Multnomah Falls

77 waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. There are only three waterfalls in the USA that are higher than our falls at 620 feet, and none are more beautiful. Large crowds are to be expected on summer weekends, so plan accordingly. There is a trail that climbs from the famous Multnomah Falls Lodge (1925) to the Simon Benson Bridge across the lower cascade, then zigzags to the top.

Mount Hood

Mt. Hood's elevation is at 11,235 feet above sea level and at it's base spreads over 92 miles. Mt. Hood has 11 glaciers to define it's peak. Mt Hood is the highest mountain in Oregon and the second most climbed mountain in the world (first is Mt. Fujiyama in Japan). Mt Hood is a dormant volcano with no recent eruptions (recorded years of eruptions: 1804, 1853, 1854, 1859, 1865, and 1907, all minor.)

Bonneville Dam

Bonneville Lock and Dam is made up of several dam structures that together span the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. The dam is located 40 miles east of Portland on the Columbia River Gorge. The primary functions of Bonneville Lock and Dam are generating electricity and river navigation. Bonneville Lock and Dam is named for Army Capt. Benjamin Bonneville, an early explorer credited with charting much of the Oregon Trail. In 1987 The Bonneville Dam Historic District was designated.

Sisters, Oregon

Wallowa Lake Tramway

The gondola opened in 1970. The 3700' vertical ascent to the summit of Mt. Howard is a memorable experience. Take an exciting trip to the top of the mountain and enjoy the view as the gondola rises above the blue waters of Wallowa Lake.

Pendleton Underground Tour

All of the properties included in the Pendleton Underground Tour are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These properties are in what was once the red light district of Pendleton. The buildings on the tour have been maintained, true to the original state, allowing the visitor to see the sidewalks and basalt-rock tunnels the way they were constructed pre 1890's. This special authenticity adds to their uniqueness, making the tours what they are today.

Harney County Museum

In the early years of the Oregon Trail there were three wagon trains that came through what is now known as Harney County. Those travelers were wanting a shorter route to the central and southern areas of the Willamette Valley in Western Oregon.
